Yes, the T3 supports JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) that allows users to have three independent disks show up on their OS.

The T3 supports both 3.5” HDDs and 2.5” SSDs.

The 3.5” HDDs inside of the T3 are 7200RPM HDDs.

Can I mix 3.5” HDDs and 2.5” SSDs in the same unit?

Yes, you can use both 3.5” HDDs and 2.5” SSDs in the same unit, but we recommend that you keep the same capacity drives if you are using them in a RAID 0 or 1.

How do I change the RAID mode on my T3?

The RAID modes can be changed using the CalDigit Thunderbolt RAID Utility software.

How much storage capacity will I get if I use the T3 in RAID 0, 1 or 5?

RAID 0: Full Capacity (e.g 12TB capacity = 12TB of usable storage)
RAID 1: One third capacity (e.g 3TB capacity = 1TB of usable storage)
RAID 5: Two thirds capacity (e.g. 15TB capacity = 10TB of usable storage)

Yes, the T3 features Thunderbolt 2 that allows users to integrate the T3 as part of a powerful 4K workflow. This includes daisy-chaining a 4K monitor and external 4K I/O devices.

If I purchase the 3.5” HDD version of the T3 can I upgrade to the SSD version in the future?

Yes, if you purchase the 3.5” HDD version of the T3 you can always put purchase three SSD drive modules in the future to increase the performance of the T3.

Yes, if the T3 is used in a RAID 1 or JBOD mode, the drive modules in the T3 can be used with the CalDigit T3 and AV Pro.

Yes, you can RAID two of the drive bays into a RAID 0 or RAID 1 and use the other drive bay as an independent JBOD drive.

The front facing LED light will light up red.

The T3 features an industry leading 5 year warranty on the T3 unit, and the three HDDs in the T3 feature a 3 year warranty.

How do I remove a drive module from the T3?

In order to remove the drive module from the T3 insert the supplied pin key into the pin release on the drive module and the handle will eject.

Can I lock the drive modules into the T3 unit so that they cannot be removed?

Yes, the T3 includes a drive lock key that prevents anyone from removing the drive modules by accident.

Does the T3 keep the HDDs well ventilated?

Yes, the T3 features multiple ways of keeping the HDDs inside the unit at a cool operating temperature. This includes the fan at the back of the unit, the front intake vent, and the aluminum design that helps with heat dissipation.

How do I restore my T3 drive icon on Mac?

1. Download the T3 icon from https://archive.caldigit.com/support.asp
2. Copy the T3 drive icon (command + C).
3. Select your T3 drive on the desktop and click on "Get Info" (command i).
4. Click on the drive image in the top left hand corner of the "Get Info" window.
5. Paste the T3 icon (command + P).
6. Close the "Get Info" window.

When the Mac goes in and out of Sleep Mode does the T3 turn off/on automatically?

Yes. If you put your Mac into Sleep Mode the T3 will automatically turn itself off. Then when you turn the Mac back on from Sleep Mode the T3 will turn back on.

Can I replace the drives in the T3 with my own?

As a complete storage solution provider, CalDigit does not recommend the use of third party drives. All of the components and hard drives have been carefully selected by us to provide a product with the optimal level of performance and reliability. The uniformity of the components used in our products also allow us to provide comprehensive customer support that we are famous for. While the T3 will function in RAID 0, 1, and JBOD with third party drives, RAID 5 functionality will be disabled due to the increased requirements for optimal stability performance. Also, replacing the hard drives will also void the factory warranty.
