No, the CalDigit AV Drive used a 3.5" drive that requires more power that the USB 3.0 bus can provide. The CalDigit VR mini for example, uses 2.5" drive, also called laptop drives, require less power. Therefore they can be bus powered. Other factors such as the bridge board may also determine if a drive can be bus powered or not.
