Symptoms: When turning off the computer, the speakers (connected to the station's AUX port) will emit a loud 'pop' sound.

This is the computer issue in how it handles power management and the sound card. If the speakers are the amplified and when the computer goes to sleep it shouts off the sound card cause the popping sound that gets amplified by the speakers.
