Can I use a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter to connect to a DVI monitor?

Yes, a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter on our Thunderbolt Station will allow you to utilize a DVI monitor.

Can the Thunderbolt ports bus power my devices?

Yes, as long as the devices are designed to be bus powered. Please refer to the device's documentation.

How many Thunderbolt monitors can I connect to the Thunderbolt Station?

The number of Thunderbolt displays that can be connected is restricted by the Thunderbolt technology, and dependent on your hardware. Some Macs are capable of daisy chaining multiple Thunderbolt monitors, and some will only work with one. Please visit http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5219#dispnum to see how many Thunderbolt monitors your Mac will support.

Can I connect an external Thunderbolt storage device to the Thunderbolt Station in order to boot my OS?

Yes. You can use an external Thunderbolt storage device to boot your OS.

Can I use an HDMI to DVI cable/adapter?

Yes, you can use an HDMI to DVI cable/adapter to connect to a DVI monitor.

Can I use multiple monitors with my Thunderbolt Station?

Yes, the Thunderbolt Station can support two monitors if one of them is an Apple Thunderbolt Display. You cannot use a monitor with a mini display port to DVI/VGA/HDMI adapter while using the HDMI port on the device for a multiple display configuration because only the first display that is detected will function.

USB 3.0

Can I power external devices through the USB 3.0 ports?

Yes, the USB 3.0 ports can power external devices. This includes external bus powered storage devices and SD card readers. Please refer to the device's documentation for details.

Do the USB 3.0 ports support UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol)?

Yes, the Thunderbolt Station's USB 3.0 ports support the latest USB 3.0 protocol for improved performance.

Can I connect multiple USB 3.0 external storage devices at the same time?

Yes, you can connect multiple USB 3.0 external storage devices at the same time.

If I connect the Thunderbolt Station to a 2011 non-USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Mac, can I use USB 3.0 devices?

Yes, any 2011 Mac (Non-USB 3.0) can connect to USB 3.0 devices through the Thunderbolt Station.

Does the Thunderbolt Station work with USB card readers?

Yes, it is compatible with USB card readers. However we recommend that you use USB devices that are USB-IF compliant. Please refer to the device's documentation.

Are the USB 3.0 ports hot pluggable?

Yes, the USB 3.0 ports are hot pluggable.

Are the USB 3.0 ports backwards compatible with USB 2.0?

Yes.

Can the USB 3.0 ports power an Apple keyboard and provide power to USB 2.0 port?

Yes, the Thunderbolt Station will power an Apple Keyboard and provide additional current to the USB 2.0 port.

Can the Thunderbolt Station charge my USB devices?

Charging support is only supported on OS X 10.9.2 or later. It now supports iOS Devices such as iPad and iPhone charging. Please download CalDigit driver to enable this function. https://archive.caldigit.com/Support/TS/CalDigit-Thunderbolt-Station-Charging-Support.zip.

Can the USB 3.0 ports work under Mac OSX 10.6.8 or 10.7?

NO. We encourage Mac OSX users to update to Mavericks (10.9) in order to take advantage of the built-in drivers.

Can I connect an external USB 3.0 storage device to the Thunderbolt Station in order to boot my OS?

Yes, you can boot your OS from an external USB 3.0 drive connected directly to the Thunderbolt Station if you are using OS X 10.9.2 on a 2013 Mac or later.

Does the Thunderbolt Station support Wake-on-LAN?

Yes.

If I am using OSX 10.8 do I need to install a LAN driver?

Yes, if your are using OSX 10.8 you will need to install the Thunderbolt Station's LAN driver. This driver is not required if you are using OSX 10.9. To download the driver please visit CalDigit's Support page.

Yes.

How do I set up internet sharing in Mac OS X?




AUDIO IN & OUT

Are the Audio In/Out connections analogue or digital?

Analogue.

How do I change the audio setting in MAC OS X to use the audio in & out ports on the CalDigit Thunderbolt Station?

Why did my audio stop working after the OS X 10.10 Yosemite update?

The update to Yosemite reverts all of the previous settings back to its default state. You will need to go into your system preferences and change the output audio device back to the Thunderbolt Station, which should be listed as “USB Audio Codec”.

Can I use Apple's SuperDrive with the Thunderbolt Station?

SuperDrive support is only supported on OS X 10.9.2 or later. Please download CalDigit driver to enable this function. https://archive.caldigit.com/Support/TS/CalDigit-Thunderbolt-Station-Charging-Support.zip

How many external monitors can my computer support?

The total monitors that your computer can support including builtin monitor is based on the GPU, monitors that you use, bandwidth for displayport signal and resolution. Please check with the manufacturer for more information on the external monitor support. For example, if you have MacBook Pro Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012, you can visit its website http://support.apple.com/kb/SP658 and you should look into the "Graphics and Video Support" section for more information.
