Herbie Hancock (born April 12, 1940) a renowned jazz pianist & composer, Herbie is a winner of an Academy Award and 10 Grammy Awards. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Herbie is an extremely important artist who has not only inspired many genres of music but has done composition for many artists, helping to launch many a musicians career. By embracing the elements of rock, funk, and soul and adopting freer stylistic elements from jazz, Herbie has set the tone as one of the most influential, often imitated but never duplicated & creative artists of the 20th century.

Herbie's works "Watermelon Man", "Cantaloup Island" (which was sampled by hip-hop group US3 and retitled "Cantaloop"), and "Chameleon" and indeed the 1980's groundbreaking "Rockit" are some of the many of his recognized works.
